So you’ve gone through all the hard work of writing a great article and you’ve sent it off to EzineArticles.com and submitted it to Article Marketer for distribution.

Is that it? Are you done with it? Not by a long shot. Don’t let all that sweat go to waste, use your article again and again to squeeze the most out of it them as you can. In other words, leverage your articles.

If you do this you won’t have to spend so much of your precious time writing new articles.

Assuming you have a well-written article of at least 400 words, here are some ideas for getting the most out of that article:

As I mentioned above, start off submitting the article to EzineArticles. This is the biggest article directory, and it makes sense to start here. You’ll stand a better chance of getting traffic because of their traffic ranking. In fact, if you do a search of your targeted keywords, you’re more likely to find your article showing higher in the search engines on EzineArticle’s website than from your own website.

If the article topic is something that would interest your list, you can send it to them in an email. This works better if the article is shorter rather than longer.

Alternately, you can lightly rewrite it, being sure to change the title, and add it to your blog. Then instead of sending the whole article to your list, you can send them a short email and use curiosity or a call to action to send them clicking the link to read it on your blog. This strategy gets them to your blog where they might take further action; like comment on your post, click on your AdSense, or buy one of your products.

If you’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback about the article, post it on a forum in your niche. This helps brand you as someone who is an expert as well as a helpful marketer.

Have your own article directory on your website. Set up a page with a list of all the articles you’ve written in this niche. Each article can have a blurb at the end that tells people they are free to publish the article on their site as long as they don’t change the article and keep the bio and link intact.

Rewrite your article and give it to affiliates so they can use it to promote your product. Affiliates appreciate having material they can use rather than having to come up with something from scratch.

Repurpose the article by shortening it and adding it to your newsletter that goes out to your list. Valuable information never goes out of style.

Take your article and split it into chunks to create an ecourse. You can easily add further detail to each chunk and end up with a 3-5 part ecourse.

You may have written several great articles on a specific subject. Bundle them together and create a report or ebook to give away, sell, enter in a giveaway, add to another product as a bonus, etc.

These are only a handful of suggestions on how you can leverage your articles. Every time you write an article, use it as many ways as you can and you’ll find you don’t need to write quite as many new articles.

For more tips, tricks, advice and in depth knowledge about article marketing, I have a free report available that you can pick up by visiting 5 Star Ebooks.

Five Benefits of Using PLR Articles

Continuing on with my article marketing series, today I am going to give you five benefits of using plr articles for either blog posts, creating an ebook, or submitting to directories.

One of the unfortunate reputations that PLR material has is that it is horribly written. You’ve seen those ‘bonus’ packages of 10,000 free PLR articles that you are offered as an enticement to join a list or purchase an OTO, right? Those articles are poorly written and are laced with out-of-date information. They have been around for what seems to be ions, BUT it is NOT what we’re going to explore here. Finding good, quality PLR can not only be a good value, but priceless for your internet business.

Here are some reasons why you should consider using PLR:

Using PLR can save you time. You don’t have to go to the time and trouble of writing an article from scratch. It’s been done for you. Think about how long it takes you to write an article. Now look at how long it takes you to post a PLR article on your niche blog. Take the time you’ve saved, multiply it by the number of times you use PLR articles, and use this saved time to do something else that makes you money. When you buy PLR, it’s like a step between writing your own and outsourcing them.

You have fresh content. You know the search engines like you to add fresh content and add it often. By using PLR you’re more likely to post more often and thus make Google happy. They might thank you by ranking you higher in their search engine.

You are an instant author. Maybe you don’t consider yourself much of a writer. However, you can claim most PLR articles as your own. You can add your personal touches and happily add your name to the byline. Rewriting PLR articles can help you gain confidence in your writing skills.

You are an expert. If you post articles from PLR, then you’re more likely to post more often. People will start noticing that you know what you’re talking about. This is a quick way to brand yourself as the expert in your niche. People are more likely to buy from people they’re heard plenty from. You are building trust here.

The research is done. The person who wrote the PLR did all the hard, time-consuming work – the research. You get to capitalize on their work and become the star. Add to the PLR your own experiences or examples to deliver even more value. Or use the PLR research as a jumping off point to writing your own article/blog post/report.

Ok, I was wrong, here’s a sixth benefit.

Versatility. Don’t stop at just posting the PLR to your website or blog. Put your thinking cap on and come up with more ways you can use it – bundle it together and make a report, ecourse, or ebook to sell, plug it into your autoresponder series, turn it into a report to give as an opt-in to grow your list, record yourself reading the article, etc. And for the record, you can certainly use one article in more than one way. Milk that PLR all you can.

It gets easier the more you do it.

As you can see, there are many benefits to using PLR articles.  If you’ve never tried this in your internet marketing, buy some from a trusted source and give it a try.

Here are a couple of resources for you to obtain PLR articles:

Peggy Baron and Pat Graham have a cool little membership that you can get high quality PLR articles a couple of times a month. You can find that here: My Niche PLR. Their site is very affordable and believe it or not, I don’t get a penny for referring you. I am doing this to promote the site and give their business a boost. I have known both Peggy and Pat for a while and have used their articles, so I can attest to their quality.

Another resource for you is Teri & Doug Champigny’s Easy Articles Pro. With Easy Articles Pro, you receive 100 niche plr articles every month that you can use however you wish.

Other PLR resources:

PLR Monthly

Nitro Blogging

Now remember, with any of these resources, you must take action. You can’t just sit back and allow them to collect cyberdust…doing that will get you what you have been getting up until now: nothing.

Take action, take your life back…make it happen.

One of the things you should do before you begin cranking out a lot of articles is to be clear about what you want to gain from article writing. Are you interested in promoting other products and websites (affiliate marketing) or are you going to focus on your own products and site?

The reason I ask that question is because these two methods need to be approached in very different ways. If you are writing articles that are going to call for the reader to be directed to another website or product then you will need to have the author resource information worded differently than if you were promoting your own product.

If you are going to be using the article to drive targeted traffic to your own product or website then using the resource box and a good call to action within that information can be very valuable. You need to keep in mind that
however you do this, once the article has been published, it is almost impossible to make any changes to the articles.

Since your articles will be used in different ways it is a good idea to make minor changes to the article for each directory that it will be submitted to. With some article submission software, you have the ability to do so within
the software, but in most cases, I would recommend manually submitting the articles. This may sound like a lot of work, but really it should only involve editing 3-5 submissions since these articles will be picked up by different ezine publishers.

Once you have a few articles published in the niche you are writing about, you will begin to be recognized as an expert in that area. That’s exactly what you are looking for. You want people to perceive you as someone who is
knowledgeable in the subject that you are writing about.

In order to retain your credibility it is always a good idea to write the articles in the same ‘voice’. In other words, if you are paying a ghost writer to do the work, you will want to proof the material before you just start submitting willy nilly. Depending on the article directory you are submitting to and how well they screen the material that is being submitted, you may end up being  ‘penalized’ for duplicate content if the writer you have hired is doing work for other marketers in the same niche. That’s why it’s a great idea to research your topic deeper and, if you can, write your own material.

One thing you don’t want to do is start writing articles in different niches and using the same author resource box for all of them. If you are doing that you will tend to be seen at as someone who may be trying to find that sweet spot instead of focusing on one or two niches and targeting them. If you are using the same information in your author resource box, not only will the links back to your sites not be optimized, but the search engines will tend to rank your articles lower because you are not sticking to relevant subjects.

As I mentioned in the previous posts, there is no need to make your article perfect in language, grammar or literarily, in order to be successful in article marketing. Just write it the way you feel about it. That’s your ‘voice’.

Although posting your articles to several article directories on various sites will give you a higher chance of the article being republished, which in the long run benefits you, you should be a little selective before posting them
anywhere you get a chance to do so. Article directories that have high rankings and a lot of traffic should be your priority.

Be mindful of the length of the articles you are writing. Most directories suggest ones that are between 450 and 800 words. The longer you make your articles, the better chance that your readers will lose their attention and start surfing elsewhere, and you don’t want that.

If you find yourself in the position that the articles(s) that you are writing are going longer than 850 words, you may want to start combining them into a short report and give them away as a bonus for joining your newsletter.

HEY, there’s a novel idea!

So now you have some great ideas about how you should be writing and where you should be targeting your article marketing efforts. There is one more thing that I would like to go into next time. That is the different types of articles you can write, so be on the lookout for that in the next few days.

Until then, if you are having a shortage of brain ideas, or the brain for some reason just won’t get any traction for your article writing efforts, I invite you to check out Teri & Doug Champigny’s Easy Articles Pro site.
