You’ve pointed out a major dividing line in giveaways here, Ron – those by invite-only and those open to any contributor. Generally speaking the invite-only tend to have higher profile donors, so their quality is usually better. With the wide open events a lot of people put up older, lower quality gifts but you can still find a few gems if you hunt around inside the event site.

Become known for only giving great gifts and your list will soar – and with that higher profile and bigger list comes the invites to the invite-only events, helping you to move up into the bigger leagues.

Great golf analogy, Ron! When deciding which giveaways to participate in, I base my decision on who else is already participating. If I see a few of the other marketers with sterling reputations involved, I know it's going to be a hit because the quality of gifts will be higher than the other events around the same time. Yes, giveaways are a great resource, both for the member and contributor. From a members perspective you can find a lot of free gifts that you can use to get started in learning internet marketing. In addition, once you have a basic understanding of internet marketing you can use some of the gifts to begin selling to others. As a contributor you can turn around and use these gifts in other giveaway events to start building your own list of subscribers or to turn around and sell to others as well. Side Note: Just make sure you check the rights on any product that you intend to sell or giveaway to make absolutely sure you have the rights to do that. Also, I agree that Mike's Easy Giveaway Plan is a great resource for anyone new to being a giveaway contributor. This is the exact same resource that I recommend to my subscribers and blog readers. Good analogy with golf. I also being a true fan can understand about being invited to events, especially giveaways. They are truly worthwhile and you can usually pick up a lot of great stuff. But the true magic of these events I think is to use the gifts you pick up. And don't be greedy and grab everything.
