What’s Your “Cred” Rating? Part 1

How’s your online relationship building going?

NO, I don’t mean dating sites or things like that, I mean your Information Marketing relationship building.

Did you know that to make any real income with Information marketing you not only need to establish a relationship with your readers/subscribers/customers, but also with some of the big gurus? The guys who have already made a name for themselves and can generate a tidy sum in their bank account in a matter of hours or days.

Did you know that the big guns in the Information Marketing world are extremely busy people?

You know the guys and gals that you want to eventually joint venture with?

I don’t think they haven’t been sitting around waiting for the day that you and your info product land on their doorstep (or inbox). Do you?

They all work long hours and their quitting time is when they just can’t seem to keep the eyelids open anymore, or go one more step, or answer one more question until they grab a few hours of sleep.

Believe me, I chat with a couple of them on a daily basis and still have a hard time comprehending the hours they keep.

And you thought the Information marketing world was full of glamour? Work a couple of hours a day, make a couple hundred bucks? Do whatever you want the rest of the day.

Seriously, that really is the way that most of the top guns work. They have a phone stuck to one ear and another call on their speakerphone most of the time. Follow some of them on twitter and find out what they are doing daily

Their inboxes are flooded with joint venture offers as the song says… once a day… everyday… all day long.

Those who don’t work like that are not on the top of the hill.

In order for a newbie to get the attention of one of these top dogs, not only must they have a great product and a great package of commissions and incentives to offer, they must have developed some credibility themselves or their offer won’t make it past the first cut.

A newbie sometimes tends to think that because he or she has been blessed with a boat load of charm and the ability to be able to sell icemakers to Eskimos that they pretty much have it made in the world of Information marketing.

Boy are they in for a rude awakening!

Unless you are an expert copywriter, your charm, engaging smile, firm handshake, and honest face (remember, you’re online) mean less than nothing in the biz.

Those characteristics might make you your mama’s little darling and the apple of your daddy’s eye but they aren’t worth squat on the net.

Credibility is all that really matters when you get right down to the nitty-gritty of Information marketing.

Without credibility, the newbie marketer will quickly turn into another statistic. A skeptic that will be barking in the forums that Information marketing doesn’t work.

So many times newbies enter the world of Information Marketing with guns ablazin’, fully believing that the only thing that he/she has to do to make their first million dollars is to persuade one of the guru’s to promote a product (a joint venture) with them.

Well, newbie has one part of the equation right.

Getting a top Internet marketer to joint venture with him/her would surely help… I’m just not so sure about the ‘million’ part.

Say this 3 times fast: ‘get a top Internet marketer to do a joint venture with me’.

Sounds pretty easy, right?

Well, it ain’t.

First off, as I mentioned earlier, the top guns are extremely busy people, as well as, having their inboxes overflowing with joint venture proposals every day.

Second off….well, they’re very busy…nuff said for now.

As I was perusing the newspaper this weekend, this headline jumped out at me–

‘Jobless ranks hit 10 million, most in a quarter-century; unemployment hits 14-year high

Now, at first glance, this is not good news. It means that there are more people out of work today than there has been in the past 25 years.

Are you one of them?

It means that, depending on what kind of work you do, the competition for openings that could arise in that field is going to be fierce.

How would you like to go into a job interview and find out that there are, say, 15 other people who they are interviewing for that position?

Unless you have perfected the interview process, the chances of you landing that job are slim…and even if you do, the salary for the position is probably going to be lower than what you were previously making…

So you have a couple of choices here…stay on the job search merry-go-round and become more and more frustrated as time goes by or until the economy takes a drastic upturn and companies start hiring back the people they let go.

How long is that going to be??

How well honed are YOUR speculation skills?

That’s what I thought.

Teaching Opportunity

Here is where the teaching opportunity comes in. How many of those 10 million people have internet access? I would speculate :) somewhere in the 60-75% range, which means that there are 6-7.5 million people out there who MAY just turn to their computer to find out how they can make some extra moola.

Ok, let’s look at the low side…let’s say that you could get just 1% of those people on your list. That’s an additional 60,000 subscribers.

How would you like to have access to that many potential subscribers or customers on your list? I bet every single Information Marketer out there would!

How about one half of one percent? Would 30,000 subscribers make a difference in your business? I know it would in mine.

Do you have the skills to teach people HOW to make extra cash using their computers? If you were a subscriber to my K.A.R. (Knowledge-Application-Results) newsletter, you could be learning those skills!

It’s a win-win. I teach you.

You teach them.

All of us are making extra income.

I say that because not all of us are going to be targeting the same audience. Some of you may be targeting dog lovers, some motorcycle riders…that’s just two of the thousands of niches that you can target with your business.

So what are you waiting for? Grab my bonuses for subscribing to the K.A.R. newsletter and let’s grab this teaching opportunity by the horns and shake it up!

Or, stay on the merry-go-round and keep honing those interviewing skills.

Til next time….

Here’s to YOUR successes!

Common Knowledge Amongst Internet Marketers, Part 3

There are certain topics that the seasoned information marketers take for granted and when communicating with newbies, they tend to forget the advantages they have. Welcome to the third installment of Common Knowledge among Internet Marketers.
When you’re a newbie to internet marketing, you come on full bore with the “I’m gonna make a boatload of money from the web” attitude. You think you can do it all, make a killing, and be on easy street in, say, six-twelve months.

The best advice?

Slow down and learn the basics.

Here are the last three subjects in this series that you should seriously look at to ensure your online success.

1. Drive traffic:

Learning how to drive traffic to whatever website you are promoting, whether it’s your own, an affiliate product, or AdSense ads, is the most important thing you need to learn. If you were in college to get a 4 year degree in ‘Successfully Making Money On The Internet’, the subject of marketing would be covered 3 out of the 4 years.

It’s that important.

What’s the point of spending all your time creating a fantastic product and website if no one knows it’s there and no one visits or buys it? That’s like throwing a New Year’s Eve Party in Central Park and not inviting your guests.

Take the time to look at and learn the many ways to drive traffic to your website(s) and product(s). Some methods are completely free but some can drive you to the poor farm rather quickly. Decide which ones appeal to you and give you the best results while taking up the least of your time.

Here are just a few ways to drive traffic:

Use Pay Per Click (PPC) (can be spendy)
Buy ad space in newsletters (not quite as spendy)
Have an affiliate program and let them drive traffic for you (cheap)
Comment on blogs (free)
Comment on forums with your link in your sig (free)
Article marketing (free, depending on which you submit to)
Participate in giveaways (free, unless you upgrade)

2. Have a mentor.

When you’re a newbie to information marketing, you can, like most, struggle, trying to figure out what to do and how to do it. One way to speed up the learning curve is to have a mentor. This can simply be another person whom you have gotten to know who also does information marketing that you respect and have been following. Watch what they do, what they say in their emails and how they say it, how their websites are set up, what business model they follow, etc.

Another option for a mentor is to contact a favorite online marketer and ask them a few questions. Pick someone who’s emails you have been reading and who you believe is approachable. Not someone who is so successful that they won’t have time to talk to you. Perhaps that person has a coaching program that you could invest in. Many newbie marketers use this particular method and find that their successes come much quicker.

3. Outsource.

It’s not so hard to get things done when you’re first starting out. But what happens if you run into something you don’t know how to do? Should you spend (waste) countless hours trying to figure it out? Or spend (invest) $25 to have someone set it up for you in 10 minutes? Keep in mind you could be using those hours doing more productive tasks towards building your business.

As you journey deeper into this wacky world of information marketing… you’ll begin to learn that you just can’t do everything yourself. It’s at that point that you will definitely need to start outsourcing some of your work, especially the more boring things or the ones you particularly hate to do.

With all 3 of these subjects, driving traffic, having a mentor, and outsourcing some of your work, you still need to have a plan of action.  Part of that plan should be to sign up for my K.A.R. (Knowledge-Application-Results) newsletter, where you will get ‘inside information’ on what I am doing to build my Information Marketing business and how you can follow those steps.

For more help making a plan and getting started, visit my good friend Peggy Baron’s IM-Focused.com website for further information and also for free tips.  You can certainly become an online success with a plan, a roadmap, a great vehicle to drive, and a full tank of gas.

Until next time,
