Internet Marketing Insights with Ron Barrett Aweber :

Tis the season for JV Giveaway events to be announced more frequently. I’ve put together a short article on how you can prepare your ethical bribe to help build your subscriber list through these events.

If you’ve been building a mailing list to create in income while working online you probably know that one of the easiest ways to attract readers to your list is through the events.

In this post I am going to go over the three components that you must have in place before you join one of these events as a contributor. Once you have these in place, you can visit my Giveaway Page to join the various giveaway events and start, or continue to build, your mailing list.

There are many things you can do to get ready for a JV Giveaway even before receiving your first email invitation to enter one as a contributor but having these three components are critical.

One of the great things about these events is that as a contributor, you can expect to receive a significant increase in traffic to your squeeze page. You want your squeeze page to be optimized so that the visitors are intrigued by the headline and realize that they must have the product you are providing to further their own business.

Put your best foot forward! Preparing your product and getting your page uploaded are two very important steps for preparing to participate in these events. The first impression the visitor will get about you is your squeeze page.

You can take steps now to design your site so you “WOW” visitors from the start. An incomplete or poorly designed page will discourage people from signing up to get your report and you will have missed an opportunity.

The three components you will want to have in place are:

1. Squeeze Page
2. Autoresponder (opt in form)
3. Download Page

Squeeze Page.

This is the page where the visitors will read about your product, then enter their information. It’s important to provide just enough information to hook the reader but not so much to overwhelm them.

Your ultimate goal is to get their name and email address so you can communicate with them in the future with the intent to turn them into a customer. Squeeze Pages On Crack will provide you with a template that has been proven over and over again to convert at a very high rate and the instructions to help you set yours up.

Autoresponder.

An autoresponder is simply an email delivery service that can collect the name and email address of your visitor and automatically send them an email from you. You will use your autoresponder service to create your opt-in form as well as deliver email to your leads. Good autoresponder services, such as Aweber, will take you through the process step-by-step. They can help you to set up your opt-in form and give you instructions on how to add it into the html coding of your squeeze page.

Autoresponders also make it easy to follow up with your list and turn them into paying customers through a series of informative emails.

Download Page.

This is the page your visitors (now subscribers) will be directed to after they submit their information. This will also be the page where they download their free gift. These are just like any other page on your website.

Some people will put one time offers on this page to further monetize the process. These OTO’s are a way for you to earn money from the event.

With these components in place, you are ready for the JV giveaway event to start. There are all kinds of software programs out there to help you accomplish all of these things and make your job a bit easier, but that is the subject of another article.

Do you want to find out how I went from 7 subscribers to 4,868 subscribers in 118 days? My free report “List Building From Scratch” details the tips, strategies and methods that will work for you too!

Global Warming?? Sheesh, is that a fallicy! Here in the great Northern Tundra (Minnesota, to be more precise), we are gearing ourselves up for our January thaw.

Yea, I know it’s February, but we just went through one of the top 10 coldest January’s on record! 17 of the 31 days we had a low temperature below 0 and the ‘average’ temperature for the month was a whopping 7.5 degrees Fahrenheit!

Global Warming, global shmarming….gimme a break!

Ok…my rant is finished….maybe:)

As you know, I have been touting Giveaway Events for the past how many months, and how they are a great way to build a subscriber list…in fact, Jason James just released his Givaway Riches this week, which guides you through the process of hosting your own giveaway event.

But that’s NOT the point of this post.

The point, and the question that I have for you is; Are You Maximizing Aweber’s functionalilty to your advantage?

Learn from your Mistakes

I am such a total dweeb today…

If I could bury my head in the sand and hide, I would.

Oh, well, I can only say that I will learn from the mistake.

I sent an email out last night to my list(s)…I wrote it, proofread it, tested it, and everything looked good. So I queued it up to be sent…in fact I got a response from one of my readers, my accountability partner in this wacky business, Peggy Baron, about the ‘tag line’ or USP that I used in that email.

Well, it wasn’t until this morning when I started checking stats, opens, clicks, so on and so forth, that I realized what a dork I am.

When I wrote that email, I did as I normally do and wrote most of it in the HTML section of Aweber…no problems, everything was kewl…got that all formatted the way that I wanted it and then copied it into the plain text area.

Again, as I normally do.

Now the reason I do both is because I like to insert links into the emails and it looks better (at least I think so) when the link is embedded (like this)…

In the plain text version, to do the same thing, you have to do a bit of code writing to get that done (hint, hint…that is one of the lessons in the Knowledge-Application-Results newsletter – sign up in the upper right hand corner and get some cool bonuses).

As I mentioned, I am such a dweeb…

When I was looking at the email that I sent out (I am subscribed to my own list so I can make sure everything went out the way it was supposed to) in plain text…..all I could say was ‘OH CRAP!!!!!’

The plain text version of the email was almost entirely duplicated!

It was like I had the main email, then totally repeated myself again…except the link that I was trying to format was all hosed.

The only thing I can think of is that when I copied from the html portion, I ctrl-v’d twice accidentally!

You’re asking – did you not test the email before sending?

Um, yes, I did…but I only tested to my email address that is set up to receive html emails (that message went out perfectly) and not to my address that gets the plain text version.

Lesson — when testing your emails before sending them out, make sure you test BOTH versions.

I won’t let that happen again.

Again, if you would like more ‘inside information’ similar to this, but more indepth, sign up for the Knowledge-Application-Results newsletter and receive some great bonuses.
