Internet Marketing Insights with Ron Barrett List Building From Scratch :

Tis the season for JV Giveaway events to be announced more frequently. I’ve put together a short article on how you can prepare your ethical bribe to help build your subscriber list through these events.

If you’ve been building a mailing list to create in income while working online you probably know that one of the easiest ways to attract readers to your list is through the events.

In this post I am going to go over the three components that you must have in place before you join one of these events as a contributor. Once you have these in place, you can visit my Giveaway Page to join the various giveaway events and start, or continue to build, your mailing list.

There are many things you can do to get ready for a JV Giveaway even before receiving your first email invitation to enter one as a contributor but having these three components are critical.

One of the great things about these events is that as a contributor, you can expect to receive a significant increase in traffic to your squeeze page. You want your squeeze page to be optimized so that the visitors are intrigued by the headline and realize that they must have the product you are providing to further their own business.

Put your best foot forward! Preparing your product and getting your page uploaded are two very important steps for preparing to participate in these events. The first impression the visitor will get about you is your squeeze page.

You can take steps now to design your site so you “WOW” visitors from the start. An incomplete or poorly designed page will discourage people from signing up to get your report and you will have missed an opportunity.

The three components you will want to have in place are:

1. Squeeze Page
2. Autoresponder (opt in form)
3. Download Page

Squeeze Page.

This is the page where the visitors will read about your product, then enter their information. It’s important to provide just enough information to hook the reader but not so much to overwhelm them.

Your ultimate goal is to get their name and email address so you can communicate with them in the future with the intent to turn them into a customer. Squeeze Pages On Crack will provide you with a template that has been proven over and over again to convert at a very high rate and the instructions to help you set yours up.

Autoresponder.

An autoresponder is simply an email delivery service that can collect the name and email address of your visitor and automatically send them an email from you. You will use your autoresponder service to create your opt-in form as well as deliver email to your leads. Good autoresponder services, such as Aweber, will take you through the process step-by-step. They can help you to set up your opt-in form and give you instructions on how to add it into the html coding of your squeeze page.

Autoresponders also make it easy to follow up with your list and turn them into paying customers through a series of informative emails.

Download Page.

This is the page your visitors (now subscribers) will be directed to after they submit their information. This will also be the page where they download their free gift. These are just like any other page on your website.

Some people will put one time offers on this page to further monetize the process. These OTO’s are a way for you to earn money from the event.

With these components in place, you are ready for the JV giveaway event to start. There are all kinds of software programs out there to help you accomplish all of these things and make your job a bit easier, but that is the subject of another article.

Do you want to find out how I went from 7 subscribers to 4,868 subscribers in 118 days? My free report “List Building From Scratch” details the tips, strategies and methods that will work for you too!

Even after you have built a list of subscribers, you must realize that a good majority of them are not going to be ‘buyers’. Most lists are built by giving something away for free as an incentive for signing up. Most of the list will prove to be ‘freebie seekers’ or ‘tire kickers’ who are unlikely to ever buy anything online.

Now is the perfect time to work on developing your relationship with the people on your mailing list. You are a marketer, so it’s your job to persuade these people to be more responsive to your messages and increase the number of sales you make through your emails to them.

In this post I am going to give you 3 tips on how to turn those people who have become numb to your messages into responsive, hungry buyers.

Tip #1

Be Consistent

One of the ways to create responsiveness from your readers is your consistency in sending content to them. You are working on developing a reputation with your list so regular, useful, messages need to become expected by your readers. Sporadic and infrequent mailings tend to leave a lot of your subscribers not remembering who you are, where they first signed up with you, or why you are finally mailing them now. Finding the right interval is very important. Every day can be too much while only once or twice a month is usually too little.

Tip #2

Don’t Bombard Them With Sales Pitches

You do not want to bombard them with sales pitches. Although I know marketers who do this (and I am subscribed to a LOT of these lists), it’s not recommended that you send two of these messages in a row. By sending several emails that provide content relevant to what they signed up to receive in between each promotional message sends the subliminal message that you value them as more than just a potential customer.

As I mentioned, everything you send to your subscribers should have something to do with what they signed up to your list for. All these mailings, free products, information, and recommended products need to be tailored to their interests. By providing targeted information you are branding yourself as not only an expert in the field but a helpful person to know as well.

Tip #3

Ask Them Questions – Ask For A Response

A good way to build responsiveness in your mailing list is to occasionally ask them what THEY are interested in knowing about. This can be done either as a poll or a straight question. Offer an extra special free product for the best suggestions and then send it to everyone who responded with a suggestion or comment. The more you know your list the better you can serve them while increasing the chances of making sales along the way.

Provide your email subscribers with an easy to use way of contacting you. The easiest way to do this is by setting up your autoresponder email address to be an email address that you monitor every day, that way your readers can just ‘reply’ to any one of your emails to contact. Make sure they know just how valuable they are to you and be ready to give personal service when needed or requested. By becoming a ‘real’ person for them, they are much more likely to take you up on your offers when you do send them a sales message.

I hope this series has helped you out in your list building efforts. If you want more in depth information about list building, check out my List Building From Scratch ebook.

As I mentioned previously, my next set of posts are going to be dealing with squeeze pages and how to avoid making ‘the’ fatal mistake.

You’ve probably read in many places online, and have come to the conclusion that, the easiest way to make a living online is to have a list of subscribers.

A list of people who are chomping at the bit to whip out their credit card and buy your next product.

But here’s one of the questions you have to ask: HOW do you go about doing that?

You can have a huge list of 100,000 people BUT if they aren’t ‘buyers’, you ARE NOT going to be having any cash funneled in to your paypal account.

On the flip side, you can have a list of just a couple of hundred people that are very responsive and they can lead you down the path of prosperity.

You CAN have that type of a list by following the strategies that I will outline as I add to this series and also in List Building From Scratch.

First and foremost, as I mentioned, you MUST have a list that is going to be responsive to your messages.

So…

Again… HOW are you going to get that list?

Well, the ‘gooroos’ out there are going to tell you it boils down to three ways, of which you can only use two:

The Fast way, The Cheap way, or obtaining High Quality subscribers

You can do it fast and cheap but the results will be low quality. MYTH #1!

You can do it the expensive route and have very high quality subscribers but it’s not typically going to happen fast. MYTH #2!

The third strategy is the most effective they tell you to do it, inexpensively – generating high quality subscribers, but it’s going to take patience. MYTH #3!

In List Building From Scratch, I dispell those myths and spell out a strategy that you can use to build your list fast, build it with very little cash coming out of your pocket, AND generate high quality prospects.

While there is definitely more than one way to generate an income online, the most effective way to do it for long term results is this: you drive highly targeted traffic to a site (or several sites), have an optin form to capture name and email address, and you present relevant offers on the backend.

Get that process right and you have the makings of a very successful online business.

Get it wrong and you’re a statistic. Someone that sees ‘easy button’ stamped all over things, lays out bucket loads of cash, has nothing to show for it and claims that Internet Marketing is a farce.

In the next post I am going to go into some of the ways you ‘encourage’ visitors to fill out that opt in form and be added to your list.

One of those ways is the ability to write copy that will convince the visitor to fill in their name and email address and click submit.

If you think that you don’t have that ability, check out this resource from a fellow marketer that I have learned a lot from; Robert Plank.

In his Fast Food Copywriting, Robert reveals a quick and painless formula for writing compelling sales copy that will have your emails written, your products launched and your web sites up and running in less than an hour!

It’s a formula that I follow and it will definitely help you out.
